Svev – Bakgrunn
SVEV vart først til i eit forsøk på å gjenskape Eivind Groven sitt reinstemmingsorgel i MPE versjon, som gjer det mogleg å koble reinstemming til VST bibliotek og MIDI lydar som mange komponistar og utøvarar allereie har på datamaskinane sine. Tidlegare Groven appar eksisterer, men har hatt begrensa bruksmogleghei og har blitt utdaterte. For å gjere appane enkelt vedlikeholdbare er dei koda som enkeltståande i kodespråket Python. Dette skal gjere dei lette å vedlikehalde dersom systemendringar skjer.
Den nye MPE teknologien, introdusert i 2018, gjev tilgang til fleire nyttige funksjonar. Appen er utvikla for å gjeve musikarar, komponistar, pedagogar og forskarar eit presist og intuitivt reiskap for å utforske harmoniske kontekstar og stemmingar – frå naturtonebasert reinstemming til historiske tempereringar og eksperimentell mikrotonalitet.
Sviv – Bakgrunn
SVIV byrja som ein metronom som kunne handtere asymmetriske norske taktartar. Etter kvart som nye moglegheiter opna seg i utviklingsprosessen, vaks appen til å omfatte fleire nyttige funksjonar bygd på same timingprinsipp om å bytte ut slag per minutt, med runder per minutt. Dei fleste groovye taktarter har nemleg den kvaliteten at ulike slag haler og skubber takta.
SVIV skal være nyttig til øving, utøving, komponering, analyse og transkripsjon. No kan også MIDI format spele Telespringar som er lesbart og korrekt notert.
Filosofi
Med mange års erfaring som musikar, låtskrivar og komponist speglar Austestad sine prosjekt ei praktisk forståing av behova og kompleksiteten i musikkproduksjon – særleg korleis eksisterande verktøy ofte ikkje fangar opp vesentlege og ganske vanlege musikalske nyansar i kreative samanhengar. Filosofien bak appane er å vere merksam på desse manglane og fylle dei med meiningsfulle og brukervennlege løysingar.
Det er viktig å understreke at Austestad Apps er eit personleg initiativ, ikkje eit kommersielt prosjekt. Appane er utvikla utan økonomisk støtte og utan promobudsjett. At brukarar deler erfaringar og peikar på nytteverdien, betyr difor mykje. Det er for tida ikkje planlagt jamlege oppdateringar eller nye funksjonar, men appane vil bli haldne ved like dersom systemendringar gjer det nødvendig.

Svev – Background
SVEV was first created through work on recreating Eivind Groven's pure-tuning organ in an MPE version, making it possible to connect just intonation to VST libraries and MIDI sounds that many composers and performers already have on their computers. Earlier Groven apps exist, but have had limited usability and have become outdated. To make the apps easy to maintain, they are coded as standalone applications in the Python programming language. This should make them easy to maintain if system changes occur.
The new MPE technology, introduced in 2018, provides access to several useful functions. The app is developed to provide musicians, composers, educators, and researchers with a precise and intuitive tool for exploring harmonic contexts and tunings – from natural harmonic just intonation to historical temperaments and experimental microtonality.
Sviv – Background
SVIV started as a metronome that could handle asymmetric Norwegian time signatures. As new possibilities emerged during the development process, the app expanded to include several useful functions built on the same timing principle of replacing beats per minute with cycles per minute. Most groovy time signatures have the quality that different beats lag and push the measure.
SVIV should be useful for practice, performance, composition, analysis, and transcription. Now MIDI format can also play Telespringar that is readable and correctly notated.
Philosophy
Drawing on many years of experience as a musician, songwriter, and composer, Austestad’s projects reflect hands on understanding of the needs and complexities of music production — particularly how existing tools may fail to address essential and pretty common musical nuances in creative contexts, the philosophy behind the apps is to mind these gaps, and fill them with meaningful and user friendly sollutions.
It’s important to emphasize that Austestad Apps is a personal initiative, not a commercial project. The apps have been developed without financial support and without a promotional budget. Users who share their experiences and highlight the value of the apps contribute greatly. There are currently no plans for regular updates or new features, but the apps will be maintained if critical bugs are discovered, and/or if system changes make it necessary.
